• In the application, the castable refractory are mixed with water on site and pored in to forms in a similar manner to portland cement concrete construction. If you see less water then the castable need, the material can not reach enough fluidity and when much water over the requirement, this may cause cracks during the heating and may result with poor strength.
• Tap water can be used but it must not contain over 1000 ppm impurities and pH degree of 5 or less.
• You should mix the powder castable about 1 minute before mixing with water to provide homogeneity.
• Add half amount of the required 15-20°C water to the powder castable. Pour in the rest of the water after a short time of mixing and mix until the desired consistency is achieved.
• However the mixing time varies according to the type of castable, normally it takes about 3 minutes.
• The tools and the machinery used for mixing should be clean.
• You should use mixing machine for the best result. But if you do not have this option, you can mix the castable with water in a clean container by a shovel or trowel.
• The amount of the required material should be calculated correctly. Try not to use partial materials from the packages.
• After the material is installed into the die (the heating starts), you should repeatedly apply water curing to compose the bond structure to increase the physical strength and to prevent crack forming. After the working hours, because of you can not continue water curing, you should cover the material with a wet piece of carton paper and a plastic bag to prevent the air contact.
• In the winter season, the storage conditions of the materials should not be less than 10°C and moist. For the castable properties, to prevent the increase of the solidification time, the water should be warm (~ 25°C). In the summer season, the application should not be under the sunlight. You should prefer shady and chilly places.
• If you will use a wooden form, you should lay over the die to prevent the decrease of water content of the mixture.
• To ensure that the installed castable filled all the edges and corners of the die, tap the form outside with a hammer, thrust a rod into the refractory or apply a vibrator.
• If a vibration will be applied to the refractory, make sure that the vibration is not too strong to prevent the separation of the aggregates.
• After the installation complete, you should wait 24-36 hours and during this time the refractory should be kept moist.
• The time needed for the removal of the forms varies according to the types of the castable but the minimum time must be enough for the refractory is stiffened.
• Refractory anchorage systems very according to the types of the materials and designs. You should contact us if you need more information about the applications and anchorage systems.
